Historic Preservation Garner President's House Mt. Vernon, Iowa
Constructed in 1850, the Garner President's House is the oldest building on the Cornell College campus in Mount Vernon, Iowa, predating the founding of the college by three years.
The residence has been home to the Presidents of Cornell since 1864 and serves as both the primary residence for the president’s family, and as a social space where college events are held.
The historically complimentary design was completed by the award winning firm of Muse Architects of Bethesda, MD. The extensive renovation and 6,600 SF addition mitigated existing functionality issues with the residence as well as added a significant public gathering space.
The renovation was completed in 2013.
